5 Unique Car Internal Air Conditioning Solutions

The air conditioning system is one of the most important parts of the car maintenance. We often take it for granted and that’s what causes the problems to occur. Some big issues in the internal AC system of your car may cost you a hefty amount of money. So, you should take proper precautions.

The air conditioning system works by taking out heat and humidity trapped in the car. This is a common car feature that is now available in almost every car.

How do Air Conditioning Systems work?

An AC system consists of a compressor, a condenser, a dryer or a receiver, a thermal expansion valve and an evaporator. The compressor is the most important part of the AC system as it pressurizes the refrigerant to cool the air passing through the belt.

Then it passes to the condenser which further reduces its temperature. The dryer has filters that separate moisture and contaminants. After passing through the valve, the evaporator further cools it down before blowing out.

5 Car Internal Air Conditioning Solutions

The internal AC system of your car can encounter a lot of issues which can be a result of low maintenance. You may hear some strange noises or may smell bad odor hot air blowing out. Here are 5 potential solutions for your common car AC system problems:

1. Check for Leaks

Leaking of refrigerant from any part can be very dangerous. The leaking chemical can harm the environment and can lead to dangerous situations if you keep using the AC. Buy a leak detection kit yourself to search for any leaks or you can take your vehicle to a technician for inspection and regular service.

2. Check AC Compressor and Condenser

Most of the problems occur because the compressors are not properly maintained. You may be hearing weird noises because of that. In some cases, the air conditioner completely stops cooling. If the condenser is fine then check the compressor belt.

Defect in clutches, pressure controlling switches, and valves can also result in that issue. Sometimes, the problem is as simple as a low level of refrigerant. So, check the level and refill it. You can also go for a car air conditioning recharge at your nearest vehicle workshop.

3. Replace Air Filter

The filters present in the dryer or receiver can also get damaged. Dirt, debris and other pollutants get accumulated on it that causes a stench in the air coming out. You can replace the old filters with the new ones for a drastic difference.

4. Buy the Correct Refrigerant

Use the correct refrigerant for your car. Any easy way to determine is to look for a refrigerant according to the year your car as made. Also, don’t forget to empty any old refrigerant from your car completely.

5. Flush the System

Sometimes, bacteria, moisture, and other contaminants get trapped in the AC system that causes bad-smelling and moist air to come out of the AC unit. It usually happens when AC has not been used for a while. Getting rid of this heavy and wet air is simple. Just flush out the whole system thoroughly.
