The Mahadev Betting App, along with 21 other online betting apps, has been banned by the Indian government under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act. The ban comes in the wake of an ongoing investigation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) into the app’s alleged money laundering and illegal operations. The app provided services for illegal betting in various live games, including poker, card games, cricket, badminton, tennis, football, and even elections in India.

The ED has also claimed that Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel was paid ₹508 crore by the promoters of Mahadev Book.In a video released by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Shubham Soni, an accused in the Mahadev Book case, claims to be the owner of the app and alleges that he paid ₹508 crore to Bhupesh Baghel. The Congress party has called the video a conspiracy. Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar has criticized the Chhattisgarh government for not taking action against the app earlier.
