5 Tips For Becoming An Environment- Friendly Parent

As parents, we all want the best for our children. This also includes taking care of our environment so that we leave a healthier planet for our kids. Here are seven tips for the parents to protect the environment for our kids’ future.

1. Switch to Cloth Diapers

Plastic is a major menace our world is facing. Even the modern playground equipment is made from environment-friendly material. Considering parents rely more on plastic baby diapers, it is time we switch to reusable cloth diapers. This will not only reduce the waste but also save you a good amount. I know many of you would budge from the idea of washing them. Barring that, you can choose an eco-friendly brand to reduce waste.

2. Use Biodegradable Products

It takes a plastic straw 40 years to decompose. This is the right time to switch to biodegradable products. For example, baby wipes are the second most used product after diapers at my home. They remain useful for a long time. So buy a product that is biodegradable. You can also reduce their use by cutting a diaper into half and using them wisely. Homemade wipes are also a good option in this regard.

3. Reuse Items

Most of the product we use are disposable in nature. We part ways with them in no time. If you are really interested to reduce risk then reduce the amount of waste that you are contributing. Instead of disposing off the baby food containers and stained onesies, reuse them. These items can store many things. You can do something creative with them at home like turning the formula containers into flower planters.

4. Buy Eco-Friendly Toys

Our society and government is switching to more environment friendly products. Schools and even churches have eco-friendly playground equipment for school. Similarly, when you buy toys for your kids, make sure they are made with biodegradable material. We have toys which are made from organic fabric and smooth wood. So your kids grow, you can charity those toys to a hospital or any children organization. You can also do toy swaps with neighborhood parents.

5. Abandon use of plastic bags

A plastic bag can take up to 1000 years to decompose. Plastic is a major threat to us and marine life. Parents must get rid of plastic bags. Instead, switch to reusable bags and use them in your car or during shopping.
