The official autopsy report concluded that JonBenét’s cause of death was due to being strangled while also sustaining a head injury. The authorities ruled it a homicide, which attracted a lot of attention from the public and media all over the world.
Part of the interest in the case was because JonBenét’s mother, Patsy Ramsey, had also been involved in beauty pageants when she was younger.

Elizabeth Pasch Ramsey, aged 22, and her boyfriend Matthew Derrington were killed in a car accident on January 8, 1992. The accident occurred on Interstate 55 at County Line Road in Burr Ridge, DuPage County, Illinois, USA.
Elizabeth was a passenger in Matthew’s car when it collided with a truck on the wet road. According to her death certificate, she succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash.
Elizabeth’s half-sister JonBenét Ramsey also passed away at the age of six on December 26, 1996, in Boulder, Colorado, USA. She was laid to rest next to her half-sister at St. James Episcopal Cemetery in Marietta, Georgia.
