Home Based Business

If you are starting your home-based business, your mind is full of questions that will hamper your thinking power and don’t allow you to make proper decisions to grow your business and one of the most common questions which are asked during such times are Does Home Based Business Isolate Us from The World and Family Members?

Relation between home-based business and isolation.

A home-based business means never having to leave your “jammies”

A home-based business means you don’t have to stay in your “jammies”

That’s what is great about being a home business owner. You decide when to get out of your jammies. Staying in them is sometimes a lot easier than getting dressed and going out.

If you are feeling lonely and isolated, then that was your decision. A decision you may have made unconsciously. So how do you get yourself out of the house? Make attending business functions a priority.

You decide on the number. There are many business events and network functions available. You just need to find them.

Stay Away from the Networking Groups

My advice is to stay away from the Networking Groups you have to pay to join. If you’re like most home business owners, you are probably on a tight budget. You can usually join several organizations for the price of their memberships. There are plenty of free and low-cost ones that are just as beneficial.

A great place to begin is with your local Chamber of Commerce. Also see if your city is online, they may have a listing of local business events. We also feature several associations in the Cleveland area online.

Once you attend one, you will start learning where there are more. Don’t be afraid to ask some of the attendees about others.

How to Begin–

Select the ones that appeal to you. Attend as many as possible to start. You will weed them out later.

Put them on your calendar.

Take Business Cards with you and make sure your email address is on them. I am amazed at how many people don’t bring their cards or have their email addresses. Email is one of the easiest ways to stay in contact.

Make Friends.

Don’t worry about getting your business card in every hand. You are here to start making friends. Call one or two of your new contacts and get together for coffee or lunch. You are just getting together to learn more about each other’s business and how YOU can help their business.
I have built a circle of business friends this way.

We get together regularly over coffee and swap ideas, referrals, horror stories, etc. I have received some of my most valuable business advice and contacts this way. Building a Circle of Business Friends will help keep your sanity. You’ll discover that you’re not the only one feeling or experiencing many of the things small business owners face. You’ll learn how they got through them or you’ll get through them together.

The key is to eliminating isolation in relationships. Relationships don’t happen by themselves. Neither does isolation. You have to create them.
